Unlike traditional wall displays, working walls are interactive and can be used to record, visualise and assist learning.
Maths Working Walls allow children to see written methods for calculations, while absorbing the mathematical language used in a particular area of the subject. They are interactive and include differentiated challenges for children so that learning is extended for children of all abilities.

Features included on the Maths Working Wall

• Focus – this will be the topic for the week, for example fractions or multiplication.
  
• Examples –  has correct methods or steps, written by the teacher or by pupils.
• Vocabulary – example of mathematical language ensure the children can explain their work precisely and fluently.
• Challenge – the teacher will write problems on the Working Wall for children to solve, or attach work for the children to collect.
• Problem Solving – the children will see a word problem or ‘what if’ scenario to encourage deeper thinking and make the maths relevant to everyday life.
• Times Tables – relating to whichever stage the class is up to.
• WALT and WILF – ‘We Are Learning To’ and ‘What I Am Looking For’ statements so the children know how to meet the learning objectives.
